One of the first signs of spring in Alberta is appearance of the Prairie Crocus (anemone patens). A hearty little plant, it successfully pushes up through layer upon layer of straw-yellow fescue peppering the east-facing slope with tiny little blip-blops of the most delicate mauve. And although it was a bit breezy today, we decided to take full advantage of the sunshine and do our best to record the little flowers in watercolour pencil crayon.
Sitting in nature, enjoying the quiet, honouring the fortitude of such symbolic blooms is time well spent. We felt instantly better for doing it!
Enjoyary philosophy is all about sharing the jubilation of art-making and what better way to sponge up the euphoria than taking the action outdoors. And good news: there are ALWAYS new flowers to explore (and capture) in Nose Hill Park.
