Foil Print Fail?

Shall we call it “Fail-Foward-Friday?”

My attempt at foil mono-print was a flop: I used too much water on my paper (or maybe my mixed-media paper wasn’t absorbent enough) and my choice of placing orange ink next-door to blue ink resulted in brown… and not even really a nice brown, but rather a green-brown. I would have been smarter to stick with analogous hues. The lesson today is live and learn; never forget that we learn through play! And although I was a little displeased at the final result, I am proud of myself for continuing to work through it, problem solve a bit, and at least I came up with an end product that was shareable. Time making art is never time wasted.

If you’d like to give it a go, just make sure you are using washable markers. The examples I was inspired by weren’t in anyway detailed, in fact the result was very impressionistic. It would likely make a much better background treatment whereas I was hoping for something a bit more defined (which didn’t happen). Perhaps as long as you are prepared to help the definition along via other means and mediums, you’re okay.
